Amos House - Community Center

The Amos House Community Center building is a steel-framed four-level, 29,000-square-foot structure and included a new soup kitchen with a larger dining hall, classrooms, community rooms, training centers and consolidated staff offices.  As a result of this project, the various training programs and services that Amos House offers are now consolidated into one location.

The focus of the Lower Level is the Amos Carpentry Training program, providing office space, storage, resource area, and most importantly, a full-scale workshop space for its students to have hands-on education and learn their craft. Amos House Builds, offers employment opportunities and on the job training to the graduates of the Carpentry and Maintenance Training Program balancing job experience with training.

The Main Level (first floor) houses Amos House’s Kitchen and Dining Hall which now serves 500+ people that come to the dining hall each day for a hot meal. It also supplies meals to auxiliary housing spaces serving as homeless shelters, tent encampments and housing.

Also located on the first floor is the Social Services Suite which is an important component of the essential support Amos House provides to its many guests each year. The new dedicated space with a waiting/reception area and five private offices provides a confidential setting for guests who come to Amos House for very personal needs and will allow social workers to have at hand all the resources they need to provide the best services possible.

The second floor also houses spaces that focus on the diverse range of education programs and Amos House’s entrepreneurial businesses. Dedicated classroom space houses the Amos Culinary Education program and Amos House Literacy Program, and also includes a dedicated computer resource lab.

The Community Room on the second floor is the center of Amos House's Day Programs and Social Services group sessions. The Community Room has seating for 40, an appropriate space to accommodate all those who attend important programs focused on supporting client's commitments to live substance-free lives, to keep their housing in the Amos House programs, and stay on track to a new future. The offices of the Amos House Businesses, including Amos House Works, More Than a Meal, and the Friendship Cafe, is housed on the Second Floor.

The third floor provides a centralized administrative office for the Accounting, Business, and Development Departments, consolidating functions into a centralized area.
